The First Congregational Church of Williamstown, Mass., was organized in 1765 when Whitman Welch was called to preach in that town. Meetings were conducted first in a log school house and then, in 1768, in the first log meeting house. After two meeting houses burned, in 1798 and 1866, a new building was constructed in 1869.
