This collection consists of various land deeds and miscellaneous legal and business documents for Rockingham and Shenandoah Counties, Va. The farm journal, kept by William Mathias Harner of McGaheysville, Va., contains daily one-line entries describing agricultural activities for most of the time period from Aug. 1847 to May 1861. The legal and business documents center primarily on debt papers and purchases lists, including an account with L.P. Henkel & Co. Legal and business documents, as well as land deeds and indentures are signed, with frequent reference to the following family names: Pence, Fry, John Linhoss, Nave, and Homan. One document a piece is signed by Henry Lee (1793) and Beverley Randolph (1787).
