Contains the research files of Harriet and Fred Rochlin, and consists of a wide range of material related to Jewish individuals, commercial operations and communal institutions in Arizona, principally southern Arizona. The material is especially reflective of the late nineteenth century and the role of Jews in the Arizona territory. A small amount of material reflects the history of Jews in southern California, primarily San Diego.

Harriet Rochlin, was born and raised in Boyle Heights at a time when that Los Angeles neighborhood housed the largest mixed immigrant population--mostly Jewish and Mexican-- in the West. She graduated from the UC Berkeley in June, 1947, and a month later married UC architectural student, Fred Rochlin, a Jewish native of Nogales, Arizona.
