Collection consists of materials related to the Shankland and Fowler families. Most of the collection contains correspondence, papers, and scrapbooks related to James Horton Shankland and his involvement with the Los Angeles Driving Club and his legal practice in LA. A portion of the collection (box 5) consists of Fowler family material and includes correspondence, papers, and diaries of Joseph S. Fowler. Also includes genealogies of the Shankland, Fowler, and Scovel families.
