Papers of the business firm of Jones & Clarke concerning their involvement in shipping, banking and horse racing, particularly in regard to "Copper Bottom" a stud horse purchased in 1795. Of interest are references to yellow fever in Charleston, 1796, and the "Hartford Party." William Smith of Kent County. Md., is a frequent correspondent.
