This collection includes personal and professional correspondence, correspondence with foreign students and academics, interdepartmental correspondence, diplomas, degrees, and awards, financial records, hundreds of family and professional photographs, thousands of slides of Europe, South America and Asia, as well as VEISHEA, ISU facilities, printed materials, and clippings about Lush and his family. There are also personal papers and poetry of his wife, Adaline Lincoln Lush.

Professor of Animal Husbandry. J.L. Lush was appointed Professor of Animal Husbandry at Iowa State in 1930. He later served as Department Head and Distinguished Professor of Animal Science (through 1971). Lush developed improvement of livestock through his genetic and biometric research.
