Field books, 1875-1923.

These field books document facilities work across the Iowa State campus during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. They were notebooks compiled by college faculty and staff serving as surveyors and engineers for construction and maintenance of college buildings and grounds. Railroad survey data is also recorded in these journals. Campus farms, sewer systems, general campus surveys, depression measurements, squad surveys, railroad surveying, dimensions of halls and houses, the President's house, bridge surveys, Main Hall, Agricultural Hall, the Engineering Annex, water supply improvement surveys, athletic fields, and several other projects and campus areas are documented in these early field books.
