Family Papers, 1921-1966.

The collection consists largely of letters written by Lydia Anderson Norbeck to her daughter Nell in Pierre and to Lydia's sister Nellie in California. During the years of Peter Norbeck's service in the U.S. Senate (1921-1936) Mrs. Norbeck frequently wrote of life in Washington, D.C., political developments in Washington and in South Dakota, and Peter Norbeck's work. Letters to and from the following family members are also included: Peter and Harold Norbeck, Selma Norbeck Earle, and Ruth Norbeck Jennings. Of interest are descriptions of activities with President Calvin Coolidge in the Black Hills. Also included are Amerian Association of University Women, Pierre Branch, membership booklets (1947-1970), concert programs from the Pierre Monday Musical Club (1928-1954), programs from the South Dakota Federation of Music Clubs (1938 and 1950), Congregational Church material, and Priscilla Alden Society materials.
