Materials relate to his work with the construction of the Northern Pacific Railroad in Montana and his activities as a civil engineer and surveyor in the Los Angeles region. Includes surveys conducted by Ackerman for the Lucky Baldwin estate, William Wolfskill rancho, Abbot Kinney's Venice in America project, and the property of William Andrews Clark.
