Diaries, 1891-1896.

Diaries kept by a British Lieutenant during 6 years of active duty on the North West Frontier of India. The author recorded routines of military life, route marches, shooting matches, gymkhanas, dances, hunting, and social engagements. He also kept notes on expenditures and lists of letters sent and received. Many entries mention theatrical productions in which Hare participated. The diaries are recorded in 6 volumes of Letts's Pocket Diary and Almanac for respective years. The 1895 volume includes brief entries written during Hare's service with the Chitral Relief Force. In several entries Hare recorded bouts of fevers and dysentary.
