Office of Social Research and Planning files (1968-1972, 1975) contain correspondence, minutes and agenda, memoranda, reports, studies, social statements, discussion notes, and publications regarding the Office's work in social welfare planning and study. General correspondence regards social welfare consultation and conference arrangements, Continuing Forum on Church and Society arrangements, and discussion of the study, "Role of the Church in the Changing Social Order." Reports and study books of the Continuing Forum on Church and Society held in Zion, Illinois in 1971 and 1972; arrangement correspondence concerning a Consultation on the National Crisis and the Response of the Churches held in 1970; and correspondence from Lutheran Church in America Board of Social Ministries officials regarding. Conferences and social welfare issues and documents are included. The remainder of the series contains the Division publication series, "The Lutheran Churches Speak" (1969-1975), a bibliography of official social statements and study reports of Lutheran church bodies, associations, and agencies. The 1975 edition was produced by the Offices's successor, The Division of Mission and Ministry's Social Study and Planning Program. Correspondents include Office Director Henry J. Whiting; Lutheran seminary faculty; social service agency staff; and National Lutheran Campus Ministry officials.
