Although the exact date that the Pleasant Grove Methodist Church (Troup County, Ga.) formed is not known, a meeting house was built in southern Troup County at the intersection of U.S. 27 and Salem Road in 1836. When the United Evangelical Brethren and the Methodist Church united to form the United Methodist Church, the name changed to the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church.
