The subseries consists of administrative files of the Atlanta Urban League Employment Department from 1941-1985. The files include the records of Robert A. Thompson (1941-1960), Harold Arnold (1961-1965), Richard Lyle (1965-1966), and Mortimer Cox (1964-1977) and include correspondence, rosters, minutes, reports, and subject files relating to Atlanta area businesses. Of particular interest are materials pertaining to Lockheed Aircraft Corporation, United States Steel Corporation, and DeKalb County Schools. Other materials include department records (1981-1985), consisting of correspondence, contracts, programs notes, reports, forms, and manuals. The subseries documents efforts to close job opportunity gaps for African Americans in Atlanta, Georgia.
