The New Mexico Board of Educational Finance was created in 1951 (1951 NM Laws, Chp. 190, Sec. 2). In 1973 the Board was also designated as the Commission on Postsecondary Education for federal funding purposes (1973 NM Laws, Chp. 233, Sec 1-7). In 1977 the Board of Educational Finance was administratively attached to the Educational Finance and Cultural Affairs Department (1977 NM Laws, Chp. 246, Sec. 7).
