Patrick Hues Mell Jr. scrapbooks, 1869-1870, 1880-1900.

The collection consists of scrapbooks of Patrick Hues Mell Jr. from 1880-1900, with gaps. The scrapbooks contain mainly newspaper clippings relating to his career and to the career of his father, Patrick Hues Mell. Also includes some correspondence and memorabilia. The clippings document his father's involvement with the Georgia and Southern Baptist Conference and as Chancellor of the University of Georgia; and Mell Jr's work at Alabama Polytech Institute (Auburn, Alabama); the United Confederate Veterans, Alabama Division; and the Baptist Church. The scrapbooks also contain clippings relating to Mell Jr's wife, Annie R. Mell, involvement in various patriotic societies and includes clippings on other relatives in Athens, Clarke County, Georgia. The collection includes Mell Jr's class notes (1869-1870) on philosophy and natural philosophy while attending the University of Georgia.
