The collection consists of letters from Sergey Prokofiev to Ephraim F. Gottlieb, a Chicago insurance agent and music lover, from 1920-1940. In the correspondence, Prokofiev discusses his compositions, his concert tours in the United States and Europe, rehearsals of his operas (particularly LOVE FOR THREE ORANGES), his ballets, people he meets, other musicians, and his opinion of American music critics. The collection also contains photographs of Prokofiev and his family and stage settings for LOVE FOR THREE ORANGES.
