The collection consists of the records of the United Textile Workers of America, Southern Region, Area B from 1943-1975. Includes legal and financial documents, correspondence, minutes, and printed material pertaining to the dealings of UTWA Local 120 (Newberry, S.C.) with the Newberry Mills (1948-1975) and Local 434 (Bluefield, W. Va.) with the United Piece Dye Works (1948-1975). Correspondence, minutes, National Labor Relations Board case files, and negotiation materials document UTWA's unsuccessful organizing campaigns at P. Garvin (Spartanburg, S.C.) from 1961-1964 and Lawson United Feldspar and Mineral Company (Spruce Pine, N.C.) from 1966-1972. The collection also contains correspondence between UTWA President George Baldanzi and UTWA southern Co-Director Roy Whitmire concerning organizing efforts in North and South Carolina.
