Letters to Elias Rowley, 1862.

The collection consists of two letters from John Rowley to his father Elias Rowley in Wimstead, Litchfield County Connecticut, dated March 27th and May 30th, 1862. In the March 27th letter written from Tybee Island, Rowley describes the area, ordinance at Ft. Pulaski, and predictions of a fight around April 11. The May 30th letter discusses expectations of leaving the Island, the transfer of ordnance to Ft. Pulaski from surrounding batteries, and a visit by the English man of war, Racer.
