Minerva Winstead Sayre papers, 1838-1858.

The collection consists of papers of Minerva Winstead Sayre from 1838-1858. The majority of the collection is correspondence between Minerva in Athens (Ga.) and Milton Sayre of Mobile (Ala.), written before and after their marriage. They discuss family and friends and social life in their respective cities. The collection also includes the will of Milton Sayre, some deeds, a return for the estate of Alexander Winstead, and slave bills of sale.
