The series consists of files of the Bookkeeping Dept. of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) from 1960-1967. Includes both financial and personnel records. The financial records are incomplete, but contain budgets, correspondence, financial statements, and bills. The personnel records include lists of SNCC and Council of Federated Organizations staff and field workers, job applications, correspondence, and applications for the Freedom Force and the Mississippi Summer Project.

The Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) was created in 1960 at Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina. Its purpose was to coordinate the student protest movement. SNCC led voter registration drives in Mississippi and other southern states, held civil rights demonstrations advocating social integration, and sponsored the Freedom Summer of 1964 in Mississippi.
