The series consists of files of Andrew Young as Program Director of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) from 1961-1964. The office files contain mostly correspondence and alphabetical files regarding the activities of the Program Dept. including SCLC demonstrations in Albany (Ga.) and St. Augustine (Fla.), correspondence of New York SCLC staff member Jack H. O'Dell, and several speeches and articles written by Young. The Citizenship Education Program files include correspondence and alphabetical files relating to the program. Correspondents include the American Missionary Association, the Field Foundation, the Highlander Folk School, and the United Church of Christ.
