Gerald M. Rafshoon collection, 1970-1980.

The collection consists of materials maintained by Gerald Rafshoon's Atlanta-based advertising agency from 1970-1980 relating mainly to their client Jimmy Carter. The audio-visual file consists of photographs, slides, videotapes, interview transcripts, sound recordings, and motion picture film used in the production of campaign commercials and brochures for Carter's 1970 gubernatorial campaign, 1976 presidential campaign, and 1980 campaign for re-election. The personal file contains some of Rafshoon's correspondence to and from friends and clients from 1971-1976. The 1976 campaign-state file contains a sampling of the state-by-state media plans, including schedules, rates for commercial spots, and advertising budgets for Carter's 1976 presidential campaign. There are, however, several states for which there is no information. The 1976 campaign-subject file includes a variety of material including sample campaign brochures, bumper stickers, and campaign buttons; convention and inaugural literature; and miscellaneous notes, schedules, clippings, and correspondence relating to the day-to-day conduct of the 1976 presidential campaign.
