Solomon Cohen (1802-1875), son of Rev. Moses C. Cohen, was a lawyer in Georgetown, S.C. until 1838 when he moved to Savannah. He represented the Georgetown District in the South Carolina Legislature. After moving to Savannah, he represented Chatham County in the Georgia Legislature. He was on the Board of Alderman of Savannah and served as U.S. Postmaster in Savannah, 1853-1861.
