The first of these Hancock Co., GA, volumes is a store account book containing primarily 1816-1818 entries, recording tallies of fees due from merchandise journal and payments in fees or kind. The back of the volume contains 1821-1824 entries concerning Turner's former partnership with the firm of Jesse Dennis & Company and his partnership with Henry Harris. Daily accounts of general merchandise sold by Turner appear in three daybooks, 1823, 1823-1827, and 1825, citing date, name of account, goods sold, and cost. (The 1823-1827 volume includes 1823 daybook entries and 1823-1827 entries arranged by name of account). An 1824 account book gives a daily record of general merchandise sold, citing date, name of account, and cost. Blank promissory notes for payments to Jacob P. Turner & Company were found inserted in the volume, but no other entries were found identifying it as belonging to him.
