Whitmore family scrapbooks, 18uu-1914.

A collection, primarily of scrapbooks, documenting the lives of Hartford, Connecticut residents Franklin Gray and Harriet Eliza (Goulden) Whitmore. The scrapbooks contain family photos, newspaper clippings, letters, invitations, holiday cards (all holidays), and other items. Many of the Whitmore's work and interests were included in the books.

For many years Franklin Whitmore was secretary of the municipal park commission in Hartford, Connecticut. He also served as private secretary for Samuel Clemens. As a member of the New York National Guard, Whitmore was part of the guard of honor when President Lincoln's body lay in state in New York City.
