Winsor papers, 1909-1956.

Personal and business correspondence and two manuscripts from Winsor. Correspondence is from Winsor to family members chiefly dealing with his estrangement from his wife and financial difficulties. Business correspondence relates to matters between the Arizona State Library and the Arizona Historical Society. Also present are two manuscripts written by Winsor entitled "Yuma County" and "Hi Jolly".

Editor, publisher and politician; established the Yuma Sun newspaper in 1896; worked on the Tucson Citizen from 1901 to 1903, the Phoenix Enterprise from 1903 to 1905, established the Yuma Morning Sun in 1905, then worked on the Daily Globe from 1907 to 1910. Active in politics, he was appointed Arizona's first historian in 1909, held many posts in territorial and state government, and was appointed state librarian in 1932, a position he held until his death in 1956.
