The State Soil Conservation Committee was established by a legislative act in 1937 (1937 Laws of N.M., Chp. 219, Sec. 4). In 1965 a legislative act abolished the State Soil Conservation Committee and established the State Soil and Water Conservation Committee (1965 Laws of N.M., Chp. 137, Sec. 4 and 27).
