List is of statements declaring rights to preemption claims under act of Congress of September 4, 1841. Entries for each statement include date filed, name and residence of claimant, legal description of tract claimed, number of acres and date claimant settled on tract. Also includes several applications to enter tracts, dated October 28, 1850-June 13, 1851, for which declaratory statements had been filed showing name of claimant, legal description of tract, date declaratory statement for preemption filed and date application to enter tract filed; two entries for declaratory statements filed on land not yet for sale; and list of persons and their addresses requesting information about federal Graduation Act.
