Correspondence, scholarly writing, and teaching and biographical materials documenting the academic and research career of Eric Reissner. Highly technical in nature, the collection illustrates Reissner's contributions to wing aerodynamics and theories of material elasticity. Included among the writings series are Reissner's published and unpublished articles, reports written for companies, and lecture notes. Teaching materials include class notes for courses Reissner taught at both MIT and UCSD, as well as notes for lectures he presented at various universities and colleges. The correspondence file contains letters to and from former students, many of whom developed successful careers in their chosen fields, scholars from around the world sharing Reissner's research interests, and the Addison-Wesley Press, for whom Reissner served as a consulting editor from 1949 to 1960.
