James C. Simpson was born May 18, 1930, in Gulfport and raised in Pass Christian. He graduated from high school in Bay St. Louis and earned a bachelor's degree in petroleum geology from Mississippi State University. Mr. Simpson was first elected to the Mississippi House of Representatives from Harrison County in 1964. He was reelected to six more consecutive terms, serving more than twenty years.
