Broyles, writing from Anderson (S.C.) to "My Dear Sir," evidently the president of Dartmouth College, solicits information concerning whether education institutions in other states receive state funds. A candidate for the S.C. legislature in an upcoming election, Broyles questions the propriety of the annual apportionment of $25,000 by the state legislature to the South Carolina College. He requests information on the practice at [Dartmouth College?] and summarizes responses from other states.
