Scrapbook of newspaper clippings of letters to the editor and articles written by Thorburn, some suggesting colonization of African-Americans, for the New York Evening Express; includes draft of letter dated 1853 to "Mr. Printer" stating that between 1847 and 1849 he accompanied a missionary from the Methodist Conference on a trip through Virginia and South Carolina to preach to slaves on plantations.
