Robert M. Harvey tape [videorecording], 1992-1993.

Copy of a videotape of a U.S. Forest Service project using goat herds on the balds of Roan Mountain, N.C.-Tenn. "Up with goats," recorded by Robert M. Harvey in 1992 and 1993, documents the efforts of the Toecane Ranger District of the Pisgah National Forest to control unwanted plant species by grazing alpine and angora goats on Round Bald. Prior to the acquisition of the upper elevations of Roan Mountain (the so-called "highlands of the Roan") by the U.S. National Forest Service, livestock grazing on the "balds" helped maintain the meadows in their treeless state.
