Biographical and writings files (1932, 1960-1979, 1982) of U.S.A. National Committee of the Lutheran World Federation (USANC) General Secretary Paul C. Empie are a compilation of correspondence, tributes, memorials, publications, and speeches regarding Empie's heart problems in 1960 and 1969; his retirement dinner held April 12, 1972; tributes given throughout his career and at the time of his sixtieth birthday, retirement, and death; and speeches delivered in his capacity as USANC General Secretary on such topics as Lutheran unity, and Christian responsibility and mission. Included in the collection is a copy of a letter from Franklin F. Fry, Executive Secretary of the United Lutheran Church in America's Board of American Missions, to Empie's father Charles congratulating him on Paul Empie's ordination. Also included is the program (1982) from the dedication of the Paul C. Empie Theatre in the Center for the Arts at Muhlenberg College, Allentown, Pennsylvania, Empie's alma mater.
