Consists of a photocopied manuscript for a book about the different types of frank stamps and postmarks that were used by Wells, Fargo and Company in Mexico for the delivery of mail and silver shipments, both foreign and domestic, between 1861 and approximately 1910. Page one is missing, so neither the author nor the title of the manuscript can be identified. Each page shows examples of the different types of markings that were in use during that time period. Typed captions describing each marking are included. Some of the material is in Spanish.

Wells, Fargo & Company was founded in 1852 by Henry Wells and William G. Fargo. Wells and Fargo had also established the American Express Company with John Butterfield in 1850. In 1857 Wells Fargo, American Express, Adams Express, and United States Express formed the Overland Mail Company, which Wells Fargo took over in the early 1860s.
