William S. Messervy collection, 1791-1927.

Summary: Collection consists of materials concerning William Messervy and his family. Includes an 1853 certificate from United States President Franklin Pierce appointing Messervy as Secretary of New Mexico; an 1854 broadside issued by Messervy as acting Governor of New Mexico offering a $200 reward for the apprehension of the individuals who murdered Ennis J. Vaughn: an 1859 invoice of goods from trade on the Santa Fe Trail; and several letters and one essay by George P. Messervy describing the life of his father William Messervy. Also within the collection are birth and baptismal records of members of the Passarow family, who were William Messervy's in-laws. The birth records date from 1791 to 1800.
