Patricia Ruth Nichols collection of Ruth Kelsey Diel papers, 1918-1970.

Summary: Collection consists primarily of the papers of Ruth Kelsey Diel, who served as a fellow in the Native American Art and Drama Department of the School of American Research in Santa Fe, New Mexico during 1918 and 1919. Includes letters received, notebooks, newspaper clippings, photograph albums, and a scrapbook of photographs, clippings, and ephemera. Much of the material relates to Pueblo Indian culture, Native American music, and writer Mary Austin, who wrote many of the letters to Diel in this collection.
