Annual reports of gas, water, electric, and heating companies, 1914-1947.

Annual reports for companies that provide water, electricity, gas, heat, or utility combinations include company name; company organization, reorganization or consolidation dates; investments in other corporations; director and officer information; stockholder voting powers; construction work in progress; company changes within past year; number of employees and their salaries; assets and liabilities; capital stock par value; funded debt; depreciation revenues and expenses; occasionally, accidental deaths or injuries; municipalities and consumers served; products sales amount; electricity, coal, or oil amounts used in production; and statistics (i.e., water pumped; electricity generated; or gas processed). Water company reports include quantities and capacities (i.e., municipal fire hydrants); feet of pipe used in transmission and distribution mains; water supply sources. Electric company reports also include number, capacity, and meter current type; station location; current type produced; amount, cost, and electrical energy supplier name; transmission line voltage; wire frequency, length and type; boiler and steam engine types; hydraulic, gas, and electrical equipment quantity and type; and line mileage. Gas company reports also include coal gas and water gas residual production amount and cost; gas purchase amount by type; gas production carbonizers and generators; coal gas yield per pound of coal; water used per in water gas production; cast-iron or tin gas meters owned or transferred; street, booster, and transmission main type, size and quantity; and distribution main mileage. Heating company reports include whether steam or hot water service; pipe size; and distribution main pipe footage.
