Return of Illinois volunteers mustered into U.S. service, 1861-1863.

ArchivalResource

Return of Illinois volunteers mustered into U.S. service, 1861-1863.

Returns are arranged by regiment and contain a listing of each company which shows muster in date; number of enlisted men on descriptive or muster in rolls; personnel totals (e.g., men who joined companies; supervisors; men in the field; field and staff officers), and regiment's total count. Occasionally these totals were corrected after the Adjutant General received descriptive books. Corrected aggregate totals for all Illinois volunteers give grand totals for each regiment and total number of Illinois volunteers mustered into U.S. service.
