Samuel J. Marino was born in New Britain, Connecticut on November 29, 1916. He attended Louisiana State University on a music scholarship, receiving the B.S.L.S. in 1948, and the M.A. in 1949. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Michigan in 1962. Dr. Marino served as Head Librarian at McNeese State College in Lake Charles, Louisiana, and from there he moved to Denton, Texas, where he served as Professor in the School of Library Science at Texas Woman's University.
