Lillian Gary Taylor papers regarding "Ben-Hur" 1886-1940.

A letter, [1886], from Robert Coleman Taylor, a University of Virginia student, urges his mother to read "Ben-Hur. He also mentions the collision of the Cunard Liner "Oregon." The collection contains a letter from Lew Wallace to Harper Brothers, 1899 January 10, concerning a theatrical production of "Ben-Hur." A letter, 1935 June 10, from Caroline Ticknor, mentions her copy of "Ben-Hur" which was autographed by Wallace to her father. In a 1940 letter Irving McKee requests a copy of Mrs. Taylor's Lew Wallace letter for use in his biography. There is also a dealer's receipt to Mrs. Taylor for a fine copy of "Ben-Hur" less the cost of a worn copy of "Ben-Hur" returned by her.
