Letters to Jonathan Lucas, 1796.

Letter (1796 Nov. 20) from Laurens at Mepkin Plantation, addressed to Jonathan Lucas at Limerick, Elias Ball's plantation, requests that Lucas come and see him about an important matter, "without which the intended new mill cannot well be begun upon." In a second letter (1796 Nov. 27) Laurens discusses "the very great loss I have met with in the death of Sam" and asks Lucas to speak with Mr. Lyall about it and to "question a man named Hercules" in order to ascertain if he would be fit to replace Sam.
