Letter (1825 July 14) from Smith in Charleston (S.C.) to Fredericksburg (Va.) merchant Peck concerns sales of beef, Peck's account with S. & M. Allen & Company (Charleston, S.C.), business conditions, and prices of commodities such as bacon, flour, lard, whiskey, cotton, and rice. Mowry also hopes for another letter from Peck "before I leave for the North." Letter (1825 Nov. 15) concerns Peck's decision to go to South America, shipments of corn, and other matters.
