Letter : to John Taylor, 1817 Jan. 21.

Simons explains the circumstances of a debt due from the estate of John Goodwin [Goodwyn] in which James Taylor (John Taylor's uncle) was jointly bound. Goodwin claimed to have been cheated by some English merchants in the sale of his cotton. Simons defends the character of the merchants, though he believes that the British as a whole "as hostilely indisposed towards this country as they were formerly to France."
