Phillip Johnson was an Astoria merchant. He and his wife, Mary Ann, were early settlers in Oregon (1853). They mortgaged two city lots in Astoria to secure a loan of $475 from J.W. Munson (January 1, 1865). Joel Wilson Munson (1818-1899) was a carpenter who came to Astoria in 1852 and was actively involved in the construction of many of that town's earliest buildings.
