Folklore and pregnancy : the world's quest for knowledge, 2006.

Roman examines common gestational issues faced by a developing fetus as viewed by the mother carrying the baby in various cultures. Specific issues addressed include cultural beliefs regarding fetal growth and development, cravings, labor, nutrition, as well as gender formation and prediction. In addition, common superstitions of the various regions are also discussed.

Roman, the youngest of three children and only daughter, was born in Voorhees, New Jersey in 1981. Roman graduated from high school in 2000 with honors, being in the top twenty percentile of her graduating class. In addition, Roman also graduated from Cumberland County Technical School, and was one of only a handful of teenagers to graduate from seminary in that same year.
