Maxfield's recent marriage and attendance at several bridal showers has caused her to explore the rituals and purposes of bridal showers. In addition to the gifts given to the bride, she is also "showered" with love shown through the giving of advice and being there. Showers are very feminine and it is an important time, especially in the LDS culture, for other women to pass on the value of marriage and homemaking to a new bride.
