Superconducting super collider project proposals of various states, 1985-1988.

Proposals submitted to U.S. Department of Energy by Illinois and competing states for location of project include executive summaries; evaluative reviews of such factors as regional resources, real estate and financial incentives, geology and tunneling, environmental impact, landscape setting, climatic conditions and utility services; and maps of proposed sites and surrounding areas. For Illinois additional documentation includes state and federal permitting reports; township, county, municipal and state sresolutions supporting site location; reports concerning site background radiation, disposal of excavated material, surface and groundwater supplies, test drillings, geological feasibility and cultural resources of area; and environmental screening atlas.
