Conversion of his family to Mormonism, 1841; immigration to New Orleans, 1844; redemption of a mortgage on the steamboat "Maid of Iowa," with the assistance of other immigrants; trip to Nauvoo, Illinois; Joseph Smith's last public address; removal to St. Louis, Missouri; exodus west; arrival in Salt Lake Valley, 1851; settlement in Cedar City, Utah; message to Brigham Young before the Mountain Meadow Massacre; removal to Wellsville, Utah, 1859; marriage to Ann Redford.
