Born at Nauvoo, Illinois, son of Benjamin Williams and Mary Ann Rock. Father's death due to exposure in 1844; mob activities against his mother and other destitute Mormons during the fall of Nauvoo in 1846; arrival in Utah, 1852; settlement in Mill Creek, Utah; return to Winter Quarters, Nebraska, to aid the immigration of other Mormons; historical data about his wife, Almira North; his marriage to her in 1863; service during the Civil War in the Lot Smith Company as a guard of the Western Mail Route; service in developing irrigation projects; church activities, including two missions to England; marriage to plural wives Marhy Ann Cook and Jane Finch; family data.
